Jakob Dulisse's Bio

Jakob DulisseJakob Dulisse is a wildlife biologist and photographer based in Nelson, British Columbia.  A childhood spent catching snakes and frogs led to a biology degree at the University of Victoria followed by an internship with the US National Biological Service in Hawaii, studying endangered honeycreepers.  In 1996, Jakob returned to the Kootenays to start a career in wildlife research and began to seriously pursue his interest in nature photography.  Using images and words, he tries to encourage appreciation and conservation for the natural world, often by featuring some of the world’s more unusual and surprising creatures.  Jakob works on biology and photography field projects throughout B.C. and the U.S., frequently involving amphibians, reptiles or birds.  His writing and photography clients include British Columbia Magazine, Canadian Geographic Magazine, BBC Wildlife Magazine, newspapers, government agencies and private companies.  Jakob hopes his passion for wildlife and wild places is conveyed through his images.
